Unfortunately....

LibraryThing was down this AM so went to Books iRead via my Facebook account. Didn't add titles though 'cause I wanted to investigate LibraryThing first. Can see how this would be interesting and helpful to patrons who want to see what others are reading and want to offer up their own reviews and discussions.

RSS

Read about and think I finally get it. Tried to subscribe via Bloglines 3 times but verification was never sent to my email. Sent message asking Blogslines to verify but never heard from anyone. Then watched Chris' video at Google Reader and decided that this was for me. He explained this concept in terms that even I could understand....sooo.... immediately signed on with Google Reader.

A bonus for me was that I had a private tudor this AM. Although I had added travel feeds (I will definitely need a (cheap) trip following this assignment), I got instruction on how to add a fellow aacpler.....so thank you Cynthia!

Flickr

Have studied Flickr and set up my account. When I looked for "library" and "librarian" something that stood out was how old the photos were. The last photo for library was June 2007 and for librarian it was Oct. 2006.

Enjoyed browsing through the Library of Congress.

Still contemplating how we can use this for staff and patrons.

Embarrassing but true...

I have now watched the video 4 times. Three on 5/14 (helping many people at desk) and once tonight. Too true....text is unilinear (and this word is not in spell check)...and yes hypertext---links.
Also checked out Washingtonpost.com and CNN.com. Noticed that CNN not only has the Blogs, podcasts, email alerts....but one can read it in different languages including Espanol and Arabic.

Read OCLC Newsletter article by Michael Stephens. I am pleased that there will not be"Techno-worship". However if we want to continue to make our pressence felt....we must keep up with new tech....as my mother keeps saying "this isn't my world anymore".....this from a great grandmother who emails regularly and checks all of her (and dad's) medical issues on-line.

So....where's my CEU!!!??
